Looking for the ultimate garage? So was the founder of the AutoMotorPlex in Minneapolis. Bruno Silikowski, a sports car collector, couldn’t find a storage space for his collection that fit the bill, so he built his own!
Today, AutoMotorPlex is a booming business – even in today’s economy. It’s like a country club for auto enthusiasts. Owners have paid anywhere from $39K to $100K for their garage condominiums & don’t see the storage space as just a garage. Instead, owners have tricked out their garage condos with giant flat-screen TVs, kitchens, living rooms, basketball courts & more. Families gather at their ‘garages’ for Thanksgiving dinner, weekend get-togethers, etc.
With baby boomers looking to downsize their homes, but not necessarily their toys, this new business model provides a great solution. They’ve even transformed this 40-acre complex into a community of its own. The clubhouse hosts events every month & garage condo owners get to know each other & share their passion for cars.
They say it’s the only one of its kind between LA & Chicago. Have you seen anything like this in California yet?
